It has been a positive week at Lodge Hill, with a lot of our runners turning in good performances. The juvenile hurdle at Warwick on Wednesday saw Adrakhan improve on his first outing when finishing second to the former smart Flat performer Chatez. Later on the same card My Oh Mount Brown put in a good round of jumping on his chase debut for third in the two mile novices’ chase.
The following day Like Minded make the journey to Bangor, where he was narrowly denied a good win off top weight in the handicap chase by Rocky Bender, who was in receipt of 20lbs from Derek Coles’ consistent performer. Down the road at Cheltenham, Guiding George ran another good race in defeat under Anthony Freeman to finish third in a competitive handicap hurdle.
On Saturday we sent three horses to Cheltenham, with Boss des Mottes finishing fourth behind some decent sorts in the Truimph Hurdle Trial. Workbench was unfortunate crashing out of the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at the third fence, but has come back safe and sound and ready to fight another day.
Over at Lingfield, Toby Lerone made every yard of the running under David England in first-time blinkers to win the two and a half mile handicap chase. Toby’s win was particularly sweet as it took us through last season’s total prize money tally, an incredible effort to have achieved before the end of 2014.
