Kicking On for the Magic 100!
After the week that we wait all winter for, it’s back to something like normal after a busy one for the team at Lodge Hill, both at Cheltenham and away from the Festival.
We had a disappointing start with both Value At Risk & Ch’tibello picking up minor infections which scuppered their Festival dreams for this year, but happily both horses are now very much on the mend. It’s frustrating for all of the team but shows how hard it is to prepare horses for the big day!
The Festival itself this year proved as competitive as ever, and the racing public was treated to some great racing across the four days. Our horses all ran very well and have come home safe & sound, but winners for the British were hard to come by with the Irish dominating proceedings.
Away from the Festival the team celebrated four winners during the week, kicked off by a gutsy display from Judy Craymer’s Ckalco Des Loges at Chepstow on Monday. We had a great double at Towcester on Thursday with Shelford winning on his chasing debut for Carl Hodgson, and Gill Duckworth & Pat Dry’s wonderful Toby Lerone registering another victory in hunter chase company. Finally Friday Master Jake gave the Infinity Racing crew reason to cheer when taking the novices’ handicap chase at Fakenham in good style.
On Saturday we were also delighted to see Bertenbar winning his fifth race at Fontwell under Sam Davies-Thomas for delighted owner-breeders the Wyatt family.
The fun doesn’t stop now the Festival is over, however, with five horses heading Southwell today, and the remainder of the season will definitely be thrilling as the team keep kicking for their century!
